How Hedy's Certified Coaches Drove $7,135 in Affiliate Sales

Hedy, an AI meeting coach, gave its certified coaches their own affiliate links. 32 affiliates and $7,135 in sales later, here's what they learned.

Hedy is an AI meeting coach. It transcribes conversations in real time on the device and suggests questions and points to raise while the meeting is still going, then writes the notes, recap and to-dos afterwards. It's built for people whose work happens in conversations: coaches, consultants, managers and sales teams. It runs on iPhone, Android, Mac, Windows and the web.

Hedy launched its affiliate program on Insert Affiliate in early 2026. Since then, 32 affiliates have joined, 14 of them have made a sale, and the program has brought in $7,135 in sales.

This is how they set it up, what has been harder than expected, and what Julian Pscheid at Hedy would tell other app founders.

Where the idea came from

Hedy's affiliate program didn't start as a growth experiment. It came out of their trainer program.

The team was putting together a plan for certified Hedy trainers: people who teach others to use Hedy in their own practice. They wanted to give those trainers a real upside when they bring Hedy into their client work, and an affiliate program was the simplest way to do it.

"Our trainers were already bringing Hedy into their client work. Affiliates gave them a way to share in the upside when it pays off."

Julian Pscheid, Hedy

Who Hedy's affiliates are

Most of Hedy's affiliates are business coaches. Hedy runs a certification with a German coaching institute, and many of the coaches who go through it use Hedy in their own sessions and then recommend it to their clients.

That is a different kind of affiliate from the influencers most app programs chase. A coach doesn't have a big audience to post to. What they have is a smaller group of clients who trust their judgement, and a product they already use in their own work. The recommendation comes from experience, not a sponsored post.

How the program works

Hedy kept the setup simple:

  • Every affiliate is approved before they go live. The program stays with people who fit the product.
  • Each affiliate gets their own link. Every purchase made through it is tracked back to that affiliate.
  • Clients get 10% off. The discount gives a client a reason to act on the coach's recommendation. (We've written more about affiliate-powered discounts and why they convert.)
  • Coaches earn a commission on each annual or lifetime plan.

Hedy sells through web checkout with RevenueCat, so a client can buy on the web and then use Hedy on whichever device they work on. Insert Affiliate attributes those web purchases to the affiliate whose link the client came through.

The results so far

  • $7,135 in affiliate sales since launch
  • 32 affiliates in the program
  • 14 of them have made at least one sale

What surprised them

Julian is upfront that it has been harder than expected for affiliates to get traction with their referrals.

"14 of our 32 affiliates have made a sale so far, so for most of them it has taken longer to get going than we thought it would."

That's worth knowing before you launch a program like this. When your affiliates are professionals recommending you to their own clients, sales follow the pace of their client work rather than a posting schedule, so the first sale can take a while to arrive.

Julian's advice for other app founders

"Definitely start early, once you feel like you have a passionate user base. The people who already recommend you are your best affiliates, and the sooner they have a link of their own, the sooner those recommendations count."

If you're working out who to invite first, our guide to recruiting high-quality affiliates starts in the same place: with the people who already use and recommend your app.

What you can take from Hedy's program

  1. Look at who already recommends you. For Hedy, that was certified trainers and coaches using the app with their own clients. For your app it might be coaches, teachers, consultants or community leaders.
  2. Give the buyer a reason too. A 10% discount turns a recommendation into a purchase.
  3. Approve affiliates before they go live. A smaller program of people who fit the product is easier to support.
  4. Give it time. Professional referrers sell at the pace of their own work, so judge the program over months, not weeks.

If you run a productivity app with users who already recommend you, Insert Affiliate gives each of them a link of their own, tracks every sale back to them, and works with both app store purchases and web checkout.
